Date Night Deal

I wish I could say that the hubs and I go out on a date every week but that is just not the case. I am, however, planning on coming up with several ideas of things we can do that are good deals so when we do go out we have lots of things to choose from.

It's not that we don't enjoy going to the movies, but at $10+ a ticket, we usually wait for the movie to be at Redbox. If there is something I really want to see (like Twilight, yes I was there at midnight) then another way to get your tickets is by purchasing a set of tickets at Costco (must buy 2 at a time). Tickets are $7.50-ish (I need to double check the exact amount--Costco won't give prices over the phone). If you have bought them recently please let me know the exact amout and I will update this post. Make sure to ask which theaters the tickets are good for. In the Treasure Valley the Costco movie tickets are good at Regal Theaters (Edwards).

These tickets are good for any show time. $15 is a lot better than $20. So, next time you are at Costco, make sure to ask them about movie tickets and you can use that $5 bucks for something else (like candy from the grocery store). If you don't have a membership, you probably know someone who does, ask them to pick some up for you.

Meal Deals: Poppy Seed Chicken

If you are like me, you are always looking for new, simple dinner recipes. This week you can get Ritz crackers for $0.79 and Darigold sour cream for $0.29 at Albertsons. See this post to find out how. I am using both those items along with other items I have stocked up on during sales. I thought I would share what we are having for dinner at my house...

Tonight we are having Poppy Seed Chicken with rice and broccoli

INGREDIENTS:

1 can of cream of chicken soup from an earlier sale (maybe $0.50, I can't remember?)

1 1/2 lbs. chicken breasts purchased during the 1.79 or 1.88/lb. sale ($2.82)

1 cup sour cream (less than 1 container 0.20)

1 sleeve Ritz crackers (1/4 of package so 0.20)

1 teaspoon poppy seeds (not sure, I think you can buy these in the bulk section at WinCo and buy a very small amount, or just don't add them)

1/3 cup butter, melted (0.40-ish)

Total cost: $4.12 (I buy rice in bulk and broccoli is relatively inexpensive so I did not add them into my cost.) And we always have leftovers!

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat the oven to 350.
2. Place the chicken into a 9x13 inch baking dish. In a medium bowl, stir together the condensed soup and sour cream. Pour over the chicken. In a separate bowl, stir together the crushed crackers, poppy seeds and melted butter. Sprinkle over the chicken and sauce.
3. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until the top of the casserole is browned and the sauce is bubbly.

*To crush the crackers, put them in a gallon zip lock bag and go over them with the rolling pin.*

Boat Ride Now Open at Zoo Boise

Have Kid Stuff You Need to Sell?

The Treasure Valley's Spring Moppet Toggs Consignment Sale is March 18-20. You can sell your unneeded children's items (cribs, strollers, etc.) as well as clothing items. The Moppet Toggs sales happen just twice a year. Visit their website to sign up to be a consigner. How it works: You take items to sell, they sell them, and you get a % of the sale.

The website has not been updated with the current information yet. If you are a consigner you can shop the sale a day early on March 17th. The sale will be open to the public March 18-20 and will be held somewhere in Boise. Inventory drop-off will be the weekend of March 12-14.

You can request to pick up unsold items or they will donate them for you! You need at least 20 items or $100 worth of items to be a consigner. If you don't have anything to sell then you can shop the sale and get some good deals on high end items!
