Deal Divas Making a Difference

When I started couponing in California back in 2003 I followed Coupon Mom @ cutouthunger.org. Her idea was that she would help us find deals and when we could get items for great deals or Free we could stock up on those items and donate some. With my husband a full-time student, we don't have extra $ to donate, but I can help by donating items that I get when doing my deal shopping and I invite you to do the same (I know many who already do!)

You may think that a small donation won't make a difference. In high school I was in ASB (leadership) and we heard the story about a man throwing starfish stranded on the beach back into the ocean. Someone approached him and told him "There are too many, you can't make a difference." The man replied as he threw another starfish out to sea "I made a difference to that one." Even small donations count!

I spoke with volunteers from Hope's Door which is a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. They are in need of toilet paper, trash bags, and toiletry items. They also need vacuums if you have an extra one (some broke so the women are having to sweep their carpet floors). Vist Hope's Door's website to learn more.

All donations are tax deductable and accepted at:
AAFV/Hope's Door Thrift Store
502 Main St.
Caldwell, Idaho
Mon-Fri: 10 am-5:30 pm
Sat: 10 am-4 pm

Dress for Success-I first heard about this organization because lia sophia works with Dress for Success. We donate jewelry as well as funds. Women is this program receive a suit, and training to get into the work field and become self-reliant. Dress for Success is a nationwide organization. Treasure Valley Dress Barn stores accept donations for Dress for Success.

You can also donate at their location:
Capital Christian Center
2760 E. Fairview Avenue
Meridian, Idaho 83646
(Corner of Eagle Road And Fairview)

You can donate year-round. Donations are tax-deductible.

They are in particular need of:
-Plus size (14 and above) suits and separates
-Shoes, purses, unused nylons
-Jewelry
-Unopened make-up (How about getting some extra CoverGirl at Rite Aid this week?)
Read more about how you can help HERE.

If you know of an organization that needs donations email me. I would be more than happy to include them in my next "Deal Divas Making a Difference." Our small donations can add up to make a big impact! If you don't live in the area I am sure there is a local charity in need of items near you!

I have a lot of cold and flu medicine that I would like to donate before it all expires. Do you have any suggestions on who to donate medicine? Thanks!
